Survivor or Sentinel Insignia
I have always been using full survivors on my warrior but every since I started HM, I have the most problems with elementalists (and sometimes rits) kicking my butt. I'm thinking that since all my builds have 13 or higher strength anyways, would it be more beneficial to switch to sentinels. What is everybody elses preference? Besides these two, are there a better choice?

HP vs. Armor is going to be argued back and forth, but one thing you should have for HM is [[Protective Spirit].

sentinel's IMO, the hp gained from survivors is nothing compared to the amount more armor prevents.

Sentinel's on the chest, the rest survivors. You take most of your hits on the chest anyway. You can put it on the leggings too and get your 15hp from your helm, gloves and boots. PS should always be in a party, but it's not always cast most efficiently so you want to take as little damage as possible...more armor FTW. Boost it with +10al vs various elemental shields.

Armor is generally better. The extra 35 health only helps you when your health drops into the 1-35 range. Otherwise the health is just sitting there for no benefit, whereas armor will always reduce the damage.

Prots>all
I use Survivors because I always bring prots. Also it is incorrect to say armor will always work since there is plenty of armor-ignoring damage in the game.
But it really doesn't matter if you bring a proper backline.

I never understand why people bother suggesting things like this. You don't take "most of your hits on the chest". The chest is hit 3/8ths of the time. Wanna know what also gets hit 3/8ths of the time? The Head, Arms and Feet combined.
Splitting up insignias is pointless.

I use sentinels and have a variety of shields with me depending on the area.
i don't use the "must have" -5/20% mod though(is garbage imo), i use the vs Fire/Cold/Earth/Slashing/Blunt etc etc mods.

I like to use Sent's.
From the wiki, it's kind of interesting to note that:
"Against player characters, critical hits always strike the head."
I don't know if that's true... but if it is, given that criticals are based on level, you'll be taking far more hits to the head than usual.
Finally, as some people pointed out, many attacks are going to hit above 10% of your maximum health regardless of sentinels or not, so they suggested protective spirit. Well, if you have survivors that's 3-4 more damage taken regardless.

I have both, a full Sentinel set and a full Survivor set. I don't feel ashamed of admitting I even have a full Radiant set, and I use my sets as I see fit, depending on the situation.

Sentinel's gives extra AL vs elemental damage as about 99.9% of any elemental damage you receive is armor honoring taking sentinel's the only choice
and yes prots do work but taking the higher AL allows your monks to burn less prots on you allowing them to save energy and prot spells for party members that actually need them (like say your Squishy mid line)

Sentinel.
HP serves you once while armor server you indefinitely. Hence why I prefer extra armor instead of extra HP in PvE.

for 14 Strength 13 Something: Sentinel's
for 13> Strength: Survivor's
not that hard
EDIT: could even make a case for Blessed in PvE (SoH, PS)

I think it's the other way around... HP serves you all the time and armor only when you meet enemies who use armor-reduced attacks.
Melee skills ignore armor. So do Necromancer, Mesmer, Monk and several other spells. Degeneration too.

Well no , is not.
This is a PvE forum , and in PvE most damage you take is NOT armor ignoring , if it was , SY! would be a BS skill and .... we all know it is not , right ?.
Since most damage you take is NOT armor ignoring , armor will reduce your damage almost always while HP only works on maybe 1-2 hits. Warriors have bloody lots of armor so you can take many hits before dropping to 1-30HP where that boost can make a diff and theres healing , PS .... so :
- General PvE usage , Armor > HP.
- General Warrior PvE usage , Armor >>>>> HP.

Higher HP = More damage when under PS, more HP lost when sacrificing (not usually an issue), and more HP for healers to top up (especially when using AI healers).
There is one and ONLY one time that survivors will be useful: when you have 1-40 health left.
How often are you down to that low? Hopefully not very often.
Of course, with a lot of classes, there isn't a better option. Rangers, Mesmers, Monks, etc. have armor insignias which are much too conditional to be useful in multiple builds or areas, so Survivors is really just a catch-all.

actually, i tend to stick to dreadnought insignia when my strength is too low for sent's, the +10 armor is still better than the hp.
